According to Urban Dictionary, a lunk is: a word made up by Planet Fitness used to describe one who grunts, drops weights, and judges. At Planet Fitness there is a lunk alarm that will go off if they believe you to be a lunk.
At the end they also throw in some hashtags - #meathead #musclehead #judger.
In the beginning of my health and fitness journey, I worked out at a Planet Fitness. It was close, it was affordable, and it allowed me to learn the basics of working out. Planet Fitness has this thing called the “lunk alarm” - a siren that the staff will ring (with a flashing light and everything) if they see anyone who works out heavy, grunts, carries a gallon jug, or drops weights. It’s mostly tongue-and-cheek, but they do ring it on occasion. How do I know? I may or have had it rung on me :)
I don't view lunks as judgers or meatheads or muscleheads; lunks are simply people that take their fitness very seriously. If that makes me a lunk, so be it. I take my health and fitness very seriously, because that's all we have! People and jobs won't be with us forever, and one day our health is all we will have left.

Because I was working out at Planet Fitness when I met my boyfriend, he affectionately calls me a lunk - and the name has stuck. My mission is to live up to that nickname daily. And that's why I named my website Lunk4Life.
